About Espadon Marine

Since 2002, Espadon Marine has been involved in the research and development of indigenous marine finfish species for aquaculture. Espadon Marine was the first company to artificially spawn and raise dusky kob in captivity in Africa.

Although no longer part of Espadon Marine (Pty) Ltd, the Company developed an innovative one million litre artificial seawater recirculating system based in Centurion, Gauteng, independent of the ocean. This was the first facility of its kind on the continent. The technology and expertise developed by Espadon Marine has therefore enabled us to culture high-value marine species which can be distributed with easy access and unsurpassed freshness into the market place.

Over the past few years Espadon Marine has developed:

  • A traceability protocol for marine finfish in South Africa which has been accepted by Marine and Coastal Management (M&CM)
  • In collaboration with M&CM, various permitting protocols for marine finfish farming in South Africa
  • Spawning and rearing protocols for indigenous marine finfish
  • Transport protocols for live marine finfish
  • Bio-security protocols for marine finfish farming
  • Aquaculture systems and technology for marine finfish hatcheries and grow-out

Espadon Marine works closely with various international companies to ensure optimizing production and efficiency with regard to aquaculture.

We are a company that enjoys challenges and finding innovative solutions.

Yours in Aquaculture,

Espadon Marine
